I owe an explanation to those faithful few who follow SBC Tomorrow (www.peterlumpkins.com). I've fairly well neglected to systematically post on this site for over a year and a half. Some hefty events have taken place since I last posted. In fact, I've only posted six times this year, one piece being the thoughts of a guest contributor. A final but hopeful plea for the healing of the Ergun Caner family by Bucky Kennedy

I would like to offer a final address toward the current circumstances regarding Ergun Caner specifically and then another issue generally. Ergun Caner had spoken with me several times after Braxton's death about lacking the energy or the will to get beyond the grief of Braxton's suicide. SACSCOC reaffirms Brewton-Parker College; drops probation

Below is the official press release pertaining to Brewton-Parker College and the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. Since 2008, Brewton-Parker has had struggles with its accreditation status with SACSCOC, culminating in being placed on probationary status with SACSCOC in 2010. Dr. Ergun Caner was appointed president in December, 2013 and began his duties January, 1, 2014. An official statement was just released from Brewton-Parker College on the latest SACS report. The gist of the statement: SACS reported to the President that the committee voted to withdraw Brewton-Parker College from membership; an official letter of intent will be sent from SACS to Brewton-Parker College Brewton-Parker College has ten days from receipt of letter to file an appeal Brewton-Parker College will file an appeal within the appropriate time period Brewton-Parker College remains accredited but on probation during the appeal process which will end in August 2014 The President...
