Retired Professor of New Testament Language, Literature & Theology at the University of Edinburgh, Larry Hurtado, offers a very helpful--if not necessary--reminder about the relationship of blogs and reputable scholarship. The simple truth is, blogs cannot make scholars out of us. And, I'm afraid far too many of us depend upon blogs in our RSS feeds rather than more in-depth studies from mainstream scholarship. Southern Baptist Theological Seminary cuts ties with Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors School

In October 2013, I rehearsed the formal relationship Southern seminary had with C.J. Mahaney and the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors School (SGM). Now, however, it appears Southern seminary has cut any formal ties between the two schools. I just viewed one of the most disgusting tweeter threads I've read since I started on Twitter a few years back. Believe me, Twitter can get really nasty really quickly.
