“If anyone sing songs that are unworthy, dissolute or outrageous, or spin wildly round in the dance, or the like, he is to be imprisoned for three days, and then sent on to the Consistory.”
--John Calvin, Ordinances for the Supervision of Churches in the Country [Geneva], February 3, 1547
Everybody behave themselves now.
Great post! Keep them coming. The cult of personality surrounding the Pope of Geneva needs to be dissected and analyzed. So what is it about a despot that is so inviting to these guys?

We had my dauther's wedding service in our home baptist church (FBC)day before yesterday.
We had the reception two blocks away at the Methodist Church so the kids COULD dance.
Take that Geneva.

Makes me want to spin wildly round in a dance while singing an outrageous song as opposition to Calvin's dictate. The New Calvinists in my area would have nothing to do with his council in this regard - they are a more fun-loving bunch.
