Free Church Press just released its newest volume entitled Preach the Word! A Collection of Essays on Biblical Preaching in Honor of Jerry Vines.
I was privileged to be a part of the ceremony at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary on Tuesday, March 5th during chapel when Dr. David Allen presented the first copy to Dr. Vines.
The volume contains chapters by a broad spectrum of Southern Baptist pastors, professors, and entity heads including Johnny Hunt, O.S. Hawkins, Mac Brunson, Adam Dooley, Malcolm Yarnell, Steve Smith, Stephen Rummage, and Paige Patterson among many others. Indeed Preach the Word! may prove to be the definitive volume on contemporary Southern Baptist preaching since all contributors are Southern Baptists.
I'm excited about this volume not only because it celebrates the life and ministry of one of the greatest expository preachers in the history of the Southern Baptist Convention, but also because I believe it to be an original dynamic resource for expository preaching. I already have orders for it from Bible colleges to stock in their bookstore. I'm confident many more will come.
