I had planned to put up Part II on "James White, Scholarship, and Insulting Ergun Caner" but ran out of time this week. You may read Part I here.
In the meantime, however, we can have a good laugh at the collage I threw together. James White mercilessly ridiculed Dr. Ergun Caner's Arabic pronunciation. Note on the video, White's love for rrrrrolling those "R's." I wonder if rrrrrrrolling "R's" is indigenous to Arizona?

eep.
Peter........okay... I swear.
But he says it so SERIOUSLY and with such pious assurance....he MUST be saying it correctly!
I wonder if he stands in front of the mirror each morning telling himself.... "YOU are better than Ergun Caner." "YOU are better than Emir Caner." "YOU are the smartest man in the WORLD." "Yeah baby, you know it!"

Peter...
Okay maybe I'm grasping at straws but...just this week I read an article called "How to tell when someone is lying to you" guess what the first sign is...well besides rolling the R's excessively when saying Qu'ran...okay not really...it's they will almost always look to the left when speaking. If they look to their right, they are organizing facts and probably not lying, (right brain) if they look left they are lying like a car salesman and making it up as they go (right brain) There was something about excessive hand rubbing but I can't remember it. I will try to find the article.
Rrrrrrregards,

Peter,
The continued fascination with James White is getting pretty petty. I am no fan of James White. Our group blog was attacked by him and many of his fans and we shut down comments because of them. The best thing to do is ignore him. All you are doing is making this whole situation bigger than it should be.

Turret,
Maybe you meant to say, "RRRRRRRRRepent." lol

Peter,
I agree it's like beating up a handicapped man, but he is just such a slime ball. And it's frustrating to see this little jagger causing a huge problem.

Dear Arron,
You'll be glad to know, my brother Aaron, my last post about James White is up--at least the last post for now. I have some GCRTF loose ends to tidy up.

Aaron,
I too would like to see this stopped, but if Peter does not voice opposition, who will.
How does one stop these "high" - "hyper" Calvinists from their constant relentless attacks on Ergun Caner.
They write, say or make videos belittling anyone they want, but don't you dare say anything negative of them. After all they are doing it out of "love" or for the "glory of God."
Notice one of the above posts that says "repent". Here's a perfect example of don't say anything about my leader JW. However, when one goes to see what words of "edification" TF has on his blog, he quickly finds out TF comes up with more dirt than JW.
Will it stop? No, because JW has stated "he's seeing it through to the end."

Peter,
I asked you in the previous thread if you had seen Dr. White and his tutor on Arabic speaking and their analysis of Dr. Caner's speaking Arabic?
Did you and what do you have to say about it?
Should we just disregard that?

He isn't rolling the letter r. The apostrophe in Qu'ran is an inflection that leads to you pronouncing Qu'ran as James White does.
See also the pronunciation here:

Well, well Eriend. That may be because you’re not listening. Indulge me and listen once more.
Even so, what’s really funny is, the pronunciation you linked may be standard; however, look more closely. It is the pronunciation of a male from United Arab Emirates :^)
On the other hand, here is the standard pronunciation of stateside English.
Now, were one from Britain or South Africa, rolling one’s “R’s” might be much more prominent. Indeed I forged a very odd habit of rrrrolling my “R’s” due primarily to the influence of Stephen F. Olford, whom I consider, in many ways, my mentor in expository preaching. No one could more beautifully rrrroll like Dr. Olford.
I long ago put away childish things, however, and tapped once again my deep southern rootedness. Now I don’t even know what an “R” is when I talk. Too much Elmer Fudd I suppose.
Thanks for the funny.

Michael,
I suppose you can take it as you wish. I have no present way of checking the accuracy of anything White's tutor indicated. Nor do I plan to investigate it.
The fact is, I have to choose wisely what I both address and challenge no matter with whom or about what my interests dictate. I cannot keep up with the continued river from James White & Co. concerning Ergun Caner or any other topic I believe touches the SBC. What I can do is make a commitment to my Lord, myself, and my readers I will be as honest and forthright with what I do address as my gifts and abilities afford.
So, again, I don't make anything of it.
With that, I am...

I'm trying to understand the point to this article.. other than trying to personally attack JW. So if an arabic-speaking (allegedly) man mispronounces an arabic word we must absolutely forgive him at all costs, but if an english-speaking man mispronounces an arabic word we must question his scholarship? Am I missing something here? Mr. Lumpkins, you seem a little obsessed with the messenger here. How about looking at the message he conveys!

Peter,
Per your last comment. Is spending all that time putting together a compilation of perceived mispronunciations of one word (personally I didn't see the big fault), really "[choosing] wisely what [you] both address and challenge"?

Bradh,
If some of you guys (and gals) would read the tags to some of the pieces I put up--especially those that appear absurd--you may be surprised to discover a humorous intention lurks in the background. Now I readily admit not all my humor is as evident as the run-of-the-mill knock-knock joke. On the other hand, I do enjoy the God-given release of being light-hearted now and then.
Mark,
Please note my little message above. And, please understand that the stewardship of my time, happily for you, falls into the pail of my responsibility.
Even so, allow me to relieve your bothered spirit: all of the rrrrrolling "R's" came from one video. One. It's relatively easy to cut and paste from a single clip.
Hope that helps.
With that, I am...

Well now THERE'S an objective critic! I also heard White made his own ruler and declared himself ten feet tall. If you GULP the Kool-aid like that you get a belly ache...sip it my friend. Savor the flavor

"Nor do I plan to investigate it."
So then it seems that you do not care about the truth or falsity of the claims made by White and his Arabic tutor...claims that, if true, show Ergun Caner to be, at best, unable to properly pronounce Arabic and at worst, to be a liar.
Will you go as far as Craig D. and intimate that White's tutor is a liar instead?

JMattC
You can assume what you wish, JMattC. I cannot "investigate" every contrary post James White puts up or to which he assigns to his faithful hacks. I do have another life you know. I hope you can live with that.
