Dr. Ergun Caner has released a public statement which can be found here. It clarifies once again the Caner family heritage. Also, Dr. Caner openly apologized and sought forgiveness for certain offenses.*
While I have no illusions that his statement will satisfy those who make a mission out of hounding him, in keeping with Dr. Caner's commitment that he will say no more on this, comments on this post are not open. Nothing could be more displeasing to the Lord, it seems to me, than to bicker over a man's honorable attempt to set the record straight.
May our Lord be gracious in all. And may He continue to pour out His anointing Spirit on the marketplace ministry of Ergun Caner.
With that, I am...
Peter
*note also the ABP story with Dr. Caner's public statement concerning Dr. Jerry Rankin
UPDATE: as I predicted, nothing Ergun Caner could say or do would squelch the undeniable obsession some have in persecuting him. When I put this post up, I added a sincere statement, in honoring Caner's request to not speak of this again either publicly or privately--not to mention opening the door to bicker whether a man of God's open confession was "good enough" or "thorough enough" in our personal opinions--that we would not have comments, hardly a practice I normally pursue. The page was virtually in "refresh mode" when a commenter had already logged onto another open post complaining about not letting the frenzy begin. Honestly, he must have been hovering the computer screen like a buzzard!
Again, the people who are now obsessed with not only tarnishing Caner's name but also seemingly have vowed together to ruin a man of God, remind me of how a group attempted to ruin Dr. Paige Patterson a few years ago. Indeed Caner's self-appointed nemesis and chief critic, Mr. White, already has parsed Caner's statement in a way only he can. Indeed the obsession of this poor, misguided man knows no end. He must have our prayers. What will we all do come judgment day? God give us all grace, mercy, and peace.
Maranatha. Come Lord.
