A fellow blogger and frequent commenter on SBCTomorrow, Ron Phillips has posted a review of his pastor's newest book, The Vanishing Church: Searching for Significance in the 21st Century. Dr. Pearle serves as pastor of Birchman Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas and is also President of the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention.
Ron writes:
"For this Baptist, I am delighted that my pastor deals with an issue most dear to me: ecumenism within our Southern Baptist Convention and the need to recover our Baptist distinctives...Pearle articulates a sound biblical vindication of our historic Baptist principles and the need to adhere to biblical doctrine and truth in all matters."

At no juncture can there be detected more confusion than at our ecclesial identity. Southern Baptists: do we know who we are?
Thank you, Dr. Pearle, for tackling this crisis. My copy is presently being mailed. Hopefully, I can write at least a mini-profile after I've read it.
With that, I am...
Peter

That's a great book cover (looks like a good book, too).
