The word is official--Wade Burleson, Trustee of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention is officially censured. While I may offer a more sober commentary later, I thought the little flick below captures the moment.
With that, I am... Peter
Peter,
At least you don't whine when censured. I think is ironic that Wade and Co. Hold the banner of public dissent in such high regard yet employ similar tactics they claim to hate against you? For all their intelligence, logic, purity, anti-pharisaical and just plain niceness, seems to me they lost biblical discernment. I'm glad you don't whine!

peter,
hilarious!
also, aint it ironic that sbc outpost and ben will censure people on a whim, and they often do it, yet they get all bent out of shape when one of thiers is censured? wade censures people all the time on his blog. i've been censured from there at times. yet, let him get censured, and it's martyr time. it'd be funny if it wasnt so sad, and i wonder if the outpost crowd was in power in the sbc if they wouldnt be doing worse than censuring to you and me and bart barber and dr. john floyd, etc.? what do you think?

Chris,
Thanks for stopping by, Chris. And, I learned long ago it's better not to whine when your classmate won't share his candy. Someday, I'll get my own store!
David,
It is a little funny observing Wade's community squirming. Looks like the microphone has effectively gone dead for a while.
It's sad really. Wade's war strategy ruined his real ministry on the board, first by being banned from any sub-committee service. How dreadful is that! Certainly, Wade says it gives him time to spend with the missionaries.
That it does. But what Trustee complains that, because he/she serves on a sub-committee, he/she cannot find the time to meet missionaries?
Now, Wade has managed to be officially censured. But rather than a embarassment, good old Wade 'makes lemonade out of lemons' He makes it a 'deep conviction of Baptist principle.' If it was a 'deep conviction of Baptist principle', why did he suggest he'd 'give up blogging' about IMB issues? Am I to understand Wade to say he'd give up 'deep Baptist principle'...selling his Baptist birthright for a bowl of petty porrige?
Grace. With that, I am...

Tony,
Hey, my Brother,
Know you're very welcome. I'll keep that in mind for future searches of appropriate flicks!
Grace, Tony, to you and yours.

Peter,
Once I was told by Wade on his blog..."You should be silent if not supportive."
Umm...anyone else see the irony?
I really do hope the best for Wade and Ben and the Outpost gang, but do think they have overstepped their bounds bigtime. The Outpost is proof of that now with flow of articles yesterday.
Anyways, if there is one thing that I have learned throughout this whole discussion for the past few years is, "WE ARE ALL, EVERYONE OF US, GREAT BIG SINNER!"

Hey Guys,
My own opinion is that being censured will only help Wade's cause because, well, his cause was/is a good cause. The SBC needs a basic amount of free speech and freedom of thought in order to function well. If SBC people aren't free to speak up from time to time when they see problems, that is just not healthy. When I look at Wade's conduct over the past couple of years, I just don't see any wrongdoing, only clear-sighted approaches to problems and common-sense ideas for helping keep the SBC an inviting place to worship and serve. He personally may not win in a technical sense, but his ideas will win, in the end, because they are the right ideas. He knows that, and that's why he's fine. P.S. To the poster with the spelling error listed above--to "censor" and to "censure" are not the same thing. Always good to keep a dictionary handy! Everone take care, now :)
