Wes Kenney at SBCToday offers us a great treat--an interview with Steve Grosey. Most refer to the Australian pastor as "Grosey", not out of disrespect but out of the relational tone Pastor Steve exudes on the net. To the readers of SBCTomorrow here, Grosey is our 'resdient' Calvinist. Ever ready to defend his understanding of the Doctrines of Grace, Grosey's style of engagement stands as a model for all Calvinists and NonCalvinists alike in their dialogs with one another. With that, I am...Peter Read more →

Once again, our friends at Outpost demonstrate nicely the emptiness of their claim to be a credible 'news and commentary' source for Southern Baptists. On June 27 of this year, the press release for their new site read in part: "...the online conversation concerning the future of the Southern Baptist Convention will move forward as a group of prominent bloggers merge their efforts to provide a forum for ministry ideas, missionary support, church revitalization, and denominational reform. SBCOutpost.com...will be launched as one of the premier sites for Southern Baptist news... Read more →

Luke records of our Lord: "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God" (6.12). What? So much time in prayer? Would not Jesus have bettered the Kingdom by keeping Himself close to the downtrodden, the sick, the afflicted, the lost sheep? Not on your life. Messiah's focus was to definitively choose His closest crew: "And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also... Read more →

SCBTomorrow has just learned that the Outpost-Enid (Burleson, Cole, Kaufman) coalition, whose apparent goal is to dismantle the historic Trustee system of accountability for the Southern Baptist Convention, has employed famed Psychic, Colin Fry as their newest consultant. A reliable source close to the situation tells us that the unanimous feeling was, since no verifiable evidence was forthcoming that any of the charges against Drs Paige Patterson and Al Mohler was, in fact, true, they were forced to explore other venues of conviction. With that, I am... Peter Read more →

A few weeks in blogdom may seem like months. One issue is quickly explored and then we're off to uncover new mysteries. Al Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, took some pounding a while back from our good buddies at SBCOutpost. They posted an anonymous letter via one of their contributors, Dr. Boyd Luter, who claimed the letter was from a person who was in a position to reveal for us the real Al Mohler--a 'tell all' if you please >>> From the anonymous 'journalistic' source, OutPost learned for... Wow. I'm back in the states and what a trip! I must apologize for not posting pictures as I intended. The connection was simply not compatible with quick uploading of massive files. I'll post pics on another site and give you a link to it on the home page. With that, I am... Peter Read more →

In early spring of 1994, one of our Deacons came up to me after the evening service and said "I need to talk to you and Kathy immediately." My first thought--as is the case many times--was "Oh my. What'd she do?" Just kidding :^) Seriously, it was "I wonder what I did?" When we arrived at the conference room, Marge was already there. This comforted me for Marge was a sweartheart of a lady and I knew we could all relax. We sat down and Dick said "You know that... Read more →

In the final instructions the inspired Apostle offers to Rome, he sees fit to warn the believers there to "watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive." (Romans 16.17-18, ESV). The admonition Paul offers here seems out of sync with the rest of the letter. Heretofore, the Apostle has been content... Read more →

I must admit I've experienced withdrawal seizures since I last posted on Wade Bulreson's blog. Most know I received a ban there. And just when I was beginning to bond with him too. He did not take kindly to my pinching him really hard for his obvious inappropriate and, in my view, morally disgusting exploitation of the mentally challenged community. Don't bother, however, to go and see--at least according to Wade's claim--the 'unchristian puerile' I spewed. It was so gross and antiChristian that he deleted all the comments and banished... It is commonly asserted by Inerrancy critics that the view of inspiration known as Inerrancy is embraced only recently among Southern Baptists. The following essay entitled "The Inspiration of the Scriptures" is by the Reverend J. B. Jeter (1802-1880), then Pastor of First Baptist Church, Richmond, VA. This essay stands as one in a collection entitled "Baptist Doctrines: Being an Exposition in a Series of Essays by Representative Baptist Ministers of the Distinctive Points of Baptist Faith and Practice, edited by Rev. Charles A. Jenkens of North Carolina, St. Louis:... Read more →
