Peter: It's a word that frankly I am open mouthed as I read, yet not surprised. Funny how they didn't gather around Sheri Klouda as she was being dismissed or the many other things that have come to light. I am praying for Paige Patterson, but not for the same reasons these men are.

BTW: Hasn't Boyd been hurt enough? When do you stop?

Ron P.

Peter,

Thank you for the excellent posts on this. Luke's post is also great, thanks for linking to it.

Let me add that you have been most gracious yet, firm in the rebuke of those involved in this despicable behavior of gossip.

Dr. Luter has, by his own hand, brought this upon himself and he, along with others involved in this gossip need to repent. Until then, loving, Biblical rebuke is appropriate and proper.

I honestly don't know that much about Paige Patterson. I know I have some significant disagreements with him (and others) on certain theological positions (such as Calvinism and alcohol abstinence), but these are not fellowship issues and they are certainly not character flaws. Though I do believe some of his positions are wrong Scripturally on these secondary issues.

Having said all that, I am unaware of anything personally that would cause me to doubt his character or integrity (for what that's worth coming from a peon like me). In fact, I can't help but think when I see a person being attacked from all sides, that he or she could possibly be doing something right after all. After all, did not Christ say in Luke 6:26 (NASB), "Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way."

I have noticed that Al Mohler is good friends with Paige Patterson. I have great respect for Mohler, though I have some minor disagreements with him as well. But I take his friendship with Patterson to be a very positive sign.

Debbie,

Open mouthed? I do not get the connection. Unless, of course you're saying the GCC should not have prayed for Drs Pattersons. Is this what you are saying? If not, then I'm unsure what you mean, my sister.

As for Dr. Luter being hurt, please. First, I have spoken not one single word of criticism toward Dr. Luter personally. I have indeed engaged his views on godless gossip and will continue to do so. And, recall it was him Debbie who hurt Drs. Patterson and Mohler by promoting via his blog gossip and hearsay. Thus, I would not misspeak about Dr. Luter "being hurt".

With that, I am...

Ron,

Thanks Ron. And I fully agree. Dr. Luter stepped in this wide-eyed as a 2 month old puppy. He knew precisely what he was doing. That's why it continues to be surprising that good folk like our Debbie are alarmed that his personal attacks on others' character will go unanswered.

Of course, one should expect that line from me. I'm now an official company cronie according to good old les. Check out my newest post :^)

Byroniac,

With you, my brother, I do not personally know either Dr Patterson or Dr. Mohler. And you know I possess reservations as well with Dr. Mohler's strong Calvinism.

That aside, no one's integrity is up for grabs--apart from solid, trustworthy evidence, definitively not internet hearsay and godless gossip--no matter how much I disagree with them philosophically or theologically.

Dr. Mohler was a darling of Wade Burleson pre-SA. Post-SA, he now is a sworn enemy.

Before SA, Dr. Mohler was "brilliant" and Wade exploited to extremes Dr. Mohler's "Tier-system" in ranking theological truths.
But according to Wade, Dr. Mohler gave all SBs--pardon the expression--"the proverbial finger" for the singular reason Dr. Mohler did not cow-tow to the Burleson/Cole proposal of the ECC statement.

This is nasty, ugly secular tactic politics and I'll have not one shred of my fiber in that interwoven garment from hell.

When Dr. Luter, Outpost and now Mr Anonymous Professor stop the gossip, I'll change the subject immediately.

Grace, Byroniac. With that, I am...

Peter: Of course it's not because they prayed for him, Dr. Patterson needs prayer, but to me it seems as if these things that have been said and brought out are unfounded, yet there is Sheri Klouda who's name has never been mentioned, and I hope was in those prayers. Paige Patterson has not answered to many things. I am all for peace and unity, but not without straightening out the things that caused the unrest to begin with. It all begins with Sheri Klouda and ends with his realizing that what happened was wrong. That doesn't seem to be coming and is further away than before. Unprecedented attacks, means unfounded and I just don't buy it.

Debbie Kaufman

That should read unprecedented attacks seems to me to mean unfounded.

peter

Strider,

Thanks Strider. I attempt to be objective but we all obviously "feel" we're more objective than we actually are. And you are correct: M Blogging is missed in this entire scenario as well ias international Bloggers as our Grosey on bottom of middlearth :^)

And to think of it, Bobby Welch is headed that way to Grosey's church. If I may say so, if anyone is a middle-of-the-roader, it's Grosey. He being a Five P Calvinist nevertheless invites one here whom Founders' community labels a thoroughbred Arminian. I wonder how many of my Calvinist readers would invite Bobby Welch to their pulpit to preach.

With that, I am...

Debbie,

The GCC did not pray for me either--and Lord knows I need it as much or more than anybody--so what's your point?

Correct me if I am wrong Debbie: You have never sat with either Drs Pattersons or Dr Mohler and discussed the issues, ask relevant questions, gained their insight, etc. Nor have you attempted to get 'their side"

And, correct me if I am wrong, you've not read any books by Dr. Patterson. What you know you know via internet and/or personal conversations with gossip groups about Drs Pattersons and Dr Mohler. Your data is fundamentally one-sided. I think if you look that up, you'll discover that's fairly close to what's known as propaganda.

Yet you sit as judge, jury and Inquisition leader on these people on their alleged incompetence, moral integrity and gifting from God.

I remind you again, my sister, if this were Wade Burleson, you, Debbie would already have experienced liquid meltdown. You would be a puddle in the chair where once you sat typing your curious defenses of immoral, unBibllical slander.

Stop promoting godless, unsubstantiated gossip. Stop it in the name of the Lord Jesus.

With that, I am...

Peter
