Update: especially note footnote #2 since I failed to account for a third public response from Marty King in the critique below
In light of Al Mohler's recent encouragement to Southern Baptist editors to "cover Calvinism," I find it interesting that when Gerald Harris, editor of The Christian Index, placed his view in print, he was side-swiped by other entity-heads and leaders for describing an "encroaching Calvinism" >>>

Baptist Press assistant editor, Erin Roach, composed a response to Gerald Harris, editor of The Christian Index, Georgia Baptists' state paper.1 Harris published an editorial opinion in The Index entitled, "The Calvinists are here" a piece Roach cited several times. Reactions were included in Roach's piece from various SBC leaders, including Al Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary >>>

UPDATE: tragically and sadly, William Birch's blog has been removed from the internet. One may find the obvious reason here.
In part I of my response to William Birch’s rebuttal to The Christian Index editor’s editorial opinion, I focused on what I believe to be insignificant quibbling over issues not germane to Gerald Harris’ piece >>>

On Thursday, February 9, The Christian Index, denominational paper for Georgia Southern Baptists, published an editorial opinion by its chief editor, J. Gerald Harris. Entitled, “The Calvinists are here” SBC Tomorrow had sought permission to post the editorial as a guest contribution to our site and permission was granted. One stipulation was, SBC Tomorrow could not post the editorial essay until it was posted online. Agreed. Our posting would be a day later than The Index’s >>>

Last Thursday, The Christian Index editor, Gerald Harris became a hunted man. His literary crime was posting his personal opinion concerning what he perceives as an unusual rise of Calvinism in the Southern Baptist Convention and to do so--gulp, gulp--in his personal opinion editorial column of The Christian Index >>>

UPDATE: the word is LifeWay is preparing a detailed response to Gerald Harris' essay and is scheduled to post this evening on Baptist Press. I'm anticipating precisely what facts in the essay LifeWay intends to dispute.

I called to get permission to post Gerald Harris' latest editorial on SBC Tomorrow. The Christian Index graciously gave me permission to do so. It was scheduled to publish at 5:15 A.M on Friday. The reason for permission is two-fold: a) plain, old-fashioned courtesy; b) at the bottom of the editorial page there is a clear indicator I needed to get the permission. It reads:

A few pastor friends of mine were devastated that their "candidate did not win the presidency of the Georgia Baptist Convention. I am not. As I indicated several weeks ago both John Waters and Fred Evers could well represent Georgia Baptists, and the vote reflected an almost dead even poll--John Waters received 749 votes to Tifton pastor Fred Evers' 656. Not a huge difference. On the other hand, >>>

A few weeks ago, North Carolina pastor, Tim Rogers, described an embarrassing situation we Georgia Baptists find ourselves in. Two good men are running against each other for president of the state convention. Now, when I say against, I really mean against. Two good conservative men campaigning for the office. And when I say campaigning, I really mean campaigning. For me, this places us Georgia conservatives in an awkward position.
Even more, a new blog presence recently spawned claiming to be an insider’s look into the Georgia Baptist Convention (GBC) >>>
